Holding a PhD in Wood Science, along with MSc and BSc qualifications in forestry, he has contributed significantly to advancing sustainable timber management, research, and industrial applications. His professional career includes serving as the General Manager and Chief Executive Officer of the State Timber Corporation, where he led strategic initiatives to enhance productivity, promote sustainable forestry practices, and align timber production with international standards.

Dr. Ruwanpathirana has also held senior research and development leadership roles and currently serves as a visiting lecturer in forestry and wood technology, sharing practical expertise in timber processing, seasoning, preservation, and quality assurance. He has published several works on timber properties, biodiversity conservation, and sustainable plantation management. With international consulting exposure in countries such as Indonesia and Malaysia, he brings global insight to timber value chains and sustainable forest resource utilization.
